What conditions will it treat?

Laser/light systems are FDA approved for a variety of conditions, including sun (photo) damage, freckles, melasma, uneven skin tone, large pores, pigment lesion removal, fine lines, wrinkles, broken capillaries, fine facial veins, spider veins, port wine stains and other birthmarks, facial telangiectasia, brown spots and rosacea. Always check with your practitioner that the laser system being used is approved for your condition.

Are the effects permanent?

Maintenance treatments may be necessary for optimal results about twice a year.

How many treatments will it take?

For optimal results at least 6 treatments at 3-4 week intervals is usually recommended for optimal results. Maintenance treatments may be necessary twice a year.

How long is each treatment?

Each treatment lasts about 30-45 minutes.

Is Laser Facial Rejuvenation painful?

Some patients feel a little discomfort during treatment, but anesthesia is not usually required. The sensation has been compared to a pinching feeling on the face, or the snap of a rubber band.

How long is downtime after treatment?

There is no actual downtime after laser or pulse light facial rejuvenation. Sometimes a patient may notice temporary darkening of pigmentation, especially where brown spots have been treated, but this will fade within a few days to a week.

Who is a suitable candidate?

Most lasers are best suited to people with fair skin but new technology has developed machines that will also treat darker skin. You should rely on the experience of your laser practitioner and/or medical professional to establish whether their laser equipment is suitable for your particular skin type and/or problem.

How much does it cost?

Facial Rejuvenation by laser or light therapy is a cosmetic procedure and therefore is rarely covered by medical insurance.
